I have two new singles in wide release. “Doppelgänger” has never been released in music form, the “Please Remain Calm” was previously only on Bandcamp. Both were composed in 2021. Also, both of these songs have companion music videos and these video were featured in interactive museum exhibits at the Museum of Boulder, and as part of this summers Experimental Art Party.
More on these songs, videos, a related Modular World YouTube livestream, and a YouTube Music tip below.
Just a reminder that if you are enjoying my music and the music of others on your fav listening app, you can cheer them on and help others discover their art by giving them a follow, “like” their songs, and add their songs to your playlists.
Doppelgänger

Doppelgänger was originally composed in 2021. It first aired as part of a live set for a video for the Modular World Anniversary Show in May of 2021. This song was performed on a Synthstrom Deluge with a MIDI controller and recorded in a single continuous take and features some fun lead synth work.
Here is a HyperFollow Distorted landing page with links that will let listen on your favorite platform. The landing page also has an embedded video for this song. There is a fun twist at the end of the video 😀.

The video is made up of multiple layers.
- Layer 1 – A live continuous 2-camera angle shoot of the musical performance in front of green screens.
- Layer 2 – A combination of live footage from camera 2, video synthesis footage from Resolume
- Layer 3 – The entire video itself became a meta layer for FX

You can watch my set on the original Modular World livestream here https://youtu.be/tPZO1ykhJ0A?t=38337. This should take you to the 10h38m mark which includes intro by host Jon, the full 9 minute full performance which includes other songs on Eurorack, and a post set interview where I talk about the set.
Please Remain Calm

“Please Remain Calm” is the soundtrack to a fun 1-minute multimedia YouTube short. I performed in a single continuous take. It rips along at 194 BPM and was made using only an Arturia MicroFreak for custom synth sounds and a Synthstrom Audible Deluge for drum programming, MicroFreak sample mangling, effects and live arrangement of all the instances of MicroFreak I’m not playing live.
You can listen on your fav music app using links for this Distrokid HyperFollow page. The page has the original 1-minute video embedded within.

I did the custom animations for the background with Resolume and rendered them out to use on the green screen layer then a video editing pass to key that in and add other FX.
YouTube Music Tip
As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I’ve been exploring the listener experience more YouTube Music. I discovered a cool feature. If the song has a companion video, you can switch back and forth in complete synchronization between the music and video versions of the song. You can check this feature out here if you view “Doppelgänger” on YouTube Music.
