About This Techno Multimedia Concert Experience

Hi, I’m Mark Mosher—a synthesist from Boulder, Colorado. I spent three months and hundreds of hours creating Beautiful Tomorrows: Temporal Odyssey. Here’s what the show is about.

🚀 The Show

Beautiful Tomorrows: Temporal Odyssey is a live original electronic music and multimedia journey that fuses original cinematic, sci-fi-inspired music with driving beats and synth textures, synchronized to visuals enhanced by live camera effects that blend narrative and abstract elements.

⚡️ Live, Not Pre-Rendered

This is a live arrangement, not prerecorded music or visuals synced to a fixed soundtrack. Each performance stays unique and alive, shaped in the moment by real-time musical and visual decisions. The show includes more than eight songs, with 160 corresponding layered visual cues.

⏱️ Format Options

This show can be performed as a 45-minute set or in a shorter format, with an optional 30-minute artist talkback. Run time can be adapted to event needs.

It works equally well for seated deep-listening rooms or standing beat-forward events, creating an immersive high-energy vibe.

The songs also stand on their own as an audio-only concert when visuals are not available or desired.

🎹 How It Is Performed

I perform on hardware groovebox with a MIDI keyboard for leads and a laptop running real-time visuals.

✈️ Colorado and Beyond

The core of the rig is a Synthstrom Deluge groovebox, a small MIDI controller, a small mixer for sending audio to the house, and a laptop that all fit in a backpack, so the show is fly-ready.

🌎 World + Story Framework

The show takes place in Beautiful Tomorrows™, the galaxy’s first temporal theme park, where audience members experience an attraction called Temporal Odyssey™.

📺 Narrative-to-Music Balance + Influences

Blending narrative storytelling with musical performance, each original cinematic techno song becomes a distinct temporal journey like an episode in an anthology series.drawing inspiration from classic 1960s shows like “The Outer Limits,” “The Twilight Zone,” and “Night Gallery.”

👀 Visual & Sonic Language

The visual and sonic palette leans into sci-fi retrofuturism. Throughout the performance, live camera input and visual elements transform dynamically through effects chains, moving in synchronization with the live musical arrangement, synthesizer effects, and lead synth keyboard performance.

🤓 Venue & Technical Requirements

  • Dark room or nighttime venue
  • Large screen and bright projector
  • Stage space to perform beside screen without blocking visuals
  • Stereo PA with subwoofer and 1/4″ L/R feed to stage (no monitors needed; I use in-ear monitors). I can also pop-up with my own PA.
  • Power and HDMI feed to stage
  • Setup: 30 minutes after load-in. Strike: 20 minutes.
  • Local shows: I bring stands. Out-of-town: provide a table at least 32.3″ × 18.3″ × 4.5″ (preferred height ~35″).

Debut at LEAF Festival

I debuted the show at the Lafayette Electronic Arts Festival (LEAF) in Colorado in May 2025 to a standing-room-only crowd.

“Mark put in around 200 hours in getting the video component prepared for this unique performance in which he was controlling the video in real time along with the music and the image design was this brilliant evocation of theme parks with contributions from Victoria Lundy.

So of course it was high quality and high concept but so accessible.

Mark is a master of video synthesis and this was another level even for him which is saying something.

I didn’t get much in the way of images because I was forgetting about that for some reason.

If and when he does this again and you’re into multimedia shows with fantastic synth composition you have to go see it.”
