I was hanging back a bit on my main performance laptop before I installed Windows 11. If memory serves, back in November and December the Windows compatibility page didn’t list Live 11.
A few weeks back, I finally bit the bullet and made the leap and upgraded to Windows 11 on my Surface Laptop 3.
I’m happy to report that so far both Live, Max for Live and Resolume / Wire are running just fine on Windows 11. Also, all my piles of MIDI controllers, audio interfaces, and VSTs seem to be working fine as well.
Your mileage may vary, so of course Its best to set yourself up to test this on a separate machine or make a backup so you can roll back.
That being said, I still wanted to report my sucess with all this in case so you wanted a data point from a synth and visual artist friend.
I circled back to check to see if the official compatibility pages were updated. I just checked the Windows Compatibility page for Ableton Live and they now list Windows 11 – yay!

The Resolume / Wire tech specs page suggests Windows 8 and up and Windows 10 recommended, but as I say, it seems to be working fine for me and others have mentioned no issues in forums.
I’ll offer some Windows 11 first impressions for creatives in a future post so subscribe if you want to be notifed.
