More on the Carbon Dioxide Ensemble

The Carbon Dioxide Ensemble is a collaboration with Thomas Lundy, Victoria Lundy, and Mark Mosher. We focus  on live improvisational performance of Musique concrète. In this unique act Mark uses the Elektron Octatrack dynamic performance sampler to live sample Thomas Lundy as he manipulates a Copper Heart and other objects with dry ice. Victoria Lundy accompanies on Theremin. The only audio source for Octatrack other than drum samples is the input from the contact mic on the Copper Heart. We then support the show with interactive visuals with live camera input.

Check out this recent performance behind-the-scenes performance video in collaboration with filmmaker Taylor Dunne.

Victoria-lundy-theremin

My friend and frequent collaborator Victoria Lundy was just interviewed by  Darwin Grosse for his Art+Music+Technology podcast. Lots of good info on Victoria's path as a musician and Thereminist and lots of insights into the Theremin.

Boulder Mixed Signals Show Photos and Recording of Jam

14030331274_d6fb6efaef_b

On April 25th I performed in a set at the Mixed Signals concert at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder. I was joined by  Antidata (aka Wes Milhomen) who performed a set with modulars, Andromeda, and some Elektron gear and Victoria Lundy who performed on Theremin. One of my favorite parts of the evening was our last song which was a collaborative jam (as seen in photo above taken by photo by Bret W. Moreland). Wes was on Andromeda, Victoria on Theremin, and I used a Nord Lead 4 for the piece.

Here is an ambient audio recording of the piece.

Here is a flickr album of I put together.

Behind-The-Scenes Video for Electric-Trombonist Darren Kramer’s Upcoming 12.12.12 Gates Planetarium CD Release Party

Colorado artist Darren Kramer (and member of The Boulder Synthesizer Meetup) is about to release his latest CD Beyond the Boneyard. Besides being a phenomenal jazz musician, Darren also makes heavy use of Ableton Live, live looping, Guitar Rig effects, and Lemur as you can see and hear in this video he did last year for a piece called “Heavy Metal Paper Clip”.
